Special Olympics is all about our athletes and providing quality athletic experiences at the many Local, Regional, State, National and World competitions.

Over 2,000 competitors participated at our recent New York State Summer Games in Binghamton and hundreds of training clubs are currently getting "our athletes"; ready for the Fall Season. We are proud to be sending 10 athletes from every corner of the state to the World Winter Games to be held in Boise, Idaho next February. Special Olympics is a seven day a week, 52 week organization that relies on its many friends, volunteers and donors who help make it all possible.

That's why we are so excited to be working with a new organization. The New York State Rental Dealers Association has joined Special Olympics New York in an in-store pin-up campaign with proceeds to benefit our 46,107 athletes. Kicking off on August 8, 265 member store locations will be selling "torch" icons for $1, $3 and $5 dollars each to their customer base throughout the months of August and September. Please click here for a list of store locations closest to you and to find out more about this great fund raiser.

Special Olympics New York Athletes to Represent USA

Neal J. Johnson, president and CEO of Special Olympics New York has announced that 10 athletes from New York have been selected to represent the USA at the World Winter Games to be held in Boise, Idaho, February 6-13, 2009. They will join 3,000 athletes from more than 85 nations to compete in seven winter sports. The participation of the New York State athletes is being made possible in large part through the support of the GabriAnna Star Foundation.

Said Frank Delli Carpini of the GabriAnna Star Foundation, "The greatest achievement for every athlete is to compete at the highest level. For Special Olympics athletes that's the World Games. The GabriAnna Star Foundation is proud to support a mission that focuses on personal achievement and equal opportunity. Through sports the athletes gain a sense of independence, develop collegial identity and are able to contribute to society. The GabriAnna Star Foundation stands behind that 100 percent."
