ANNOUNCEMENTS

2008 Metro Tournament Pre-Registration
NOW AVAILABLE
COACHES: We are now offering 'Pre-Registration' for the 2008 Metro Tournament! You may stop by the Special Olympics NYC Region Office during the week of May 26th to 30th to pick up name tags, athlete bibs, lunch tickets, Coaches' Packets, etc. Please contact Colleen Everett at ceverett@nyso.org or (212) 661-3963 to set up a time to pre-register.
Please see 'Reminders' below for Metro Registration Packet.

2008 Summer Games Coaches' Meeting
The 2008 Summer Games Coaches' Meeting will take place on June 3rd at 6:30pm at the NYC Region office (211 East 43rd St., Suite 1205) as this date could accommodate the most people. Thank you to those of you who responded! If you cannot make this meeting, please contact Colleen Everett at ceverett@nyso.org or (212) 661-3963 to coordinate an alternate way to receive the information.

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!
As you know our Metro Tournament is coming up and we are lucky to have a volunteer on board who will be pitching our story to the media to generate some interest and awareness about Special Olympics.

The media loves to personalize stories so we are looking for athletes, coaches and/or volunteers who:

1) Have a great story to tell, and

2) Would be willing to share their story with the media, and ultimately, the general public

We, of course, know that ALL of our athletes have great stories to share by virtue of being involved with Special Olympics. But the media will be looking for something that really stands out. Perhaps they've overcome extraordinary challenges, or their story has some other interesting twist.

If you think you know of someone who fits the bill, please send a brief description via email to Jamie DePasquale at jdepasquale@nyso.org. Or, you can fax the information to (212) 661-4658.

Please keep in mind that just because you suggest someone does not necessarily mean that they will be chosen. Our media volunteer will help make the determination based a number of factors and we won't be able to include everyone.

Thank you very much!
